The Brief
The assignment was to capture the interior of a luxury yacht at Monaco Yacht Show and create a strong, coherent visual story within a very limited shooting window.
The photographs needed to communicate the yacht’s architecture, design, materials and atmosphere, while also being suitable for use across websites, social media, presentations, PR and marketing.
The Challenge
At Monaco Yacht Show, time is one of the biggest challenges.
There is rarely an opportunity to carefully study the interior before shooting. Visitors are constantly moving through the yacht, access can be limited, and the conditions change from one moment to the next.
There is no time to photograph every detail or wait for the perfect moment.
The photographer has to observe, make decisions and shoot immediately.
The Approach
My approach is fast and structured.
I first identify the strongest architectural perspectives that immediately communicate the space. Then I move to the elements that define the interior - materials, furniture, lighting, textures and finishes.
The objective is not to photograph everything.
It is to identify the most important images that communicate the character and quality of the yacht.
The shooting sequence is often:
wide view → key design element → detail → atmosphere
This allows me to build a complete visual story even when the available time is extremely limited.
The Result
The final series presents the yacht as a complete visual experience rather than simply a collection of individual photographs.
The images highlight:
• architecture and spatial design
• materials and craftsmanship
• furniture and interior details
• lighting and atmosphere
• the overall character of the yacht
The resulting image library can be used across websites, social media, presentations, brochures, PR and marketing.
Why Experience Matters
Monaco Yacht Show is very different from a controlled interior photography session.
A yacht photographer must be able to work quickly, discreetly and with a clear visual strategy.
The challenge is not simply photographing a beautiful interior.
It is creating strong, purposeful images when there is very little time to do so.
My Perspective
For me, yacht photography is about finding the balance between architecture, design and emotion.
A technically perfect photograph is not enough. The image should communicate the quality of the space and give the viewer a feeling of being already on board.
